What are a few of our favorite pool snacks that we recommend enjoying this summer?
Gathering around your pool with family and friends is a wonderful way to spend the hot summer days. With everyone swimming and having fun, there’s no doubt that you’ll work up an appetite. There are an endless number of tasty pool snacks that you can easily put together.
Our staff is excited to share some of our favorites below.
Chips and Salsa
Many of the best pool snacks are the ones that take the least effort. All you really need to do to satisfy your family and friends is grab a bag of chips and a jar or two of salsa. We’d suggest that you switch it up a little and grab a few different types of salsa, including a chunky variety, garlic, salsa verde, and maybe even add mango or pineapple salsa to the mix.
Crudités and Dip
If you’re looking for a healthy poolside snack, you can’t go wrong with crudités and dip. Pick up as many different types of vegetables as you can, including cucumbers, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, asparagus, radishes, carrots, celery, etc. Then, add a few dips such as hummus, ranch, and guacamole. If you’re short on time, you can pick up a ready-made crudité platter at your local grocery store. They’ll cost you more than making one yourself, but they’ll save you a lot of time.
Cheese and Crackers
Almost everyone loves a good cheese and cracker plate. You can either create your own or pick up a ready-made one at the store. Costco has huge, ready-to-eat platters that also have fruits included. You can also order some from Amazon Fresh and other online outlets. If you make your own, we suggest that you include three or four types of cheese and crackers, plus grapes, and maybe a bottle of wine to top it all off.
Fruit Skewers
As you can see, several of the most popular pool snacks involve fruit because fruits are both tasty and good for you (even though they do contain sugar). To create a fruit skewer, you simply slide thick chunks of fruits such as strawberries, pineapple, watermelon, kiwi, etc. onto a skewer. And then you… oh, wait… that’s it! Once the skewers are made, you simply serve them to your guests!
Popcorn
As everyone knows, popcorn is a favorite movie-time snack, but it’s perfect for the pool, too. There are many different types of popcorn available, and there’s no rule that says you must stick to the original. You can always go with caramel or kettle corn, for example. There’s also chocolate-drizzled popcorn. If you’re having a pool party, you might also want to rent a popcorn machine and make the freshest popcorn possible.
Watermelon Pizza
If you’re looking for a summertime snack that’ll get people really excited, we suggest that you make up a watermelon pizza. You start by cutting a full slice from a whole watermelon to be the crust. Then, spread Greek yogurt as the pizza “sauce.” Next, add fresh fruit as your toppings, such as blueberries, sliced strawberries, pomegranate seeds, raspberries, etc. If you want some extra sweetness, drizzle it with honey or maple syrup.
Apple Nachos
You can make traditional nachos, of course, but why not go for a healthier summer snack and create apple nachos? Start off by slicing some apples and arranging the slices on a plate. Next, drizzle either peanut butter, almond butter, or sunflower seed butter over them. If you want extra flavor, you can add some shredded coconut on top. If you’re okay with it being a little less healthy, you can also drizzle on a bit of caramel.
Grilled Kabobs
If you’re looking for more of a meal than a snack, then we’d suggest that you put together some grilled kabobs. Start by gathering up your favorite meats, such as beef, chicken, and shrimp. Then, add a few thick vegetables like red peppers, green peppers, and onions. Grill everything up and then slide them onto a skewer together. These make hearty, protein-filled kabobs and can be paired with any of the pool snacks on this list for either a large get-together or just hanging out with friends.
