Your pool is complete! But… how can you improve it? Check out these pool water features!
One of the greatest things about being a swimming pool owner is that the pool design itself is often just the beginning. To give you an idea of what we mean, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite water features you may want to consider adding after your pool is built.
Natural Rock
Whether you love to be in the great outdoors or fancy yourself more of an at-home kind of person, there’s no denying that natural rock formations look amazing. You can match the appearance of a cliffside or other rock formation right in your backyard. This will make your swimming pool area look more incredible!
Pool Decking
Typically, pool decking often accompanies the installation of a new swimming pool or the remodeling of an existing one. Many homeowners also upgrade their existing deck when they decide to remodel their pool. There are many styles to choose from along with options such as a cover, tables, and more.
Waterfall
Going right along with what we said above about the great outdoors, you can also opt to add a waterfall to your swimming pool area. This is especially useful if your goal is to design an oasis as part of your landscape. If you don’t want to construct a complete pool waterfall, there are also ways that you can create a curtain of water near the pool that will also look spectacular.
Outdoor Kitchen
If you’re searching for an awesome landscape item you can use in conjunction with your swimming pool or on its own, nothing comes close to an outdoor kitchen.
You can add any type of feature that you choose. Whether it’s a stove/oven, grill, refrigerator, cabinet space, sink, etc. This is a great way to entertain guests and not be cooped up inside while people are having fun at the pool.
Add a Fire Pit
While a fire pit pretty much has a singular function – keeping people warm – it’s useful when you have a swimming pool. After you and your friends take a dip as the sun goes down, gather around the pit and get nice and toasty together. You can also hang out at the fire pit when the temperature drops, and you want to stay warm despite the cooler weather.
Swim-Up Bar
Pool features don’t get much better than the installation of a swim-up bar. This is a bit more lavish than the other items on our list, and it’s definitely one that you should consider whether it’s for your household members only or if you entertain guests. Remember that this is only for non-alcoholic refreshments because you never want to “drink and swim.”
LED Lighting
No says you can only use your swimming pool during the day. You want to ensure that there’s plenty of illumination for safety.
Installing LED lights will not only provide this safety, but they come in many different styles and colors that will allow you to show off your personality. Plus, LED lights use a fraction of the energy used by incandescent bulbs, so you’ll save energy and money, too!
Outdoor Shower
As any swimming pool owner will tell you, it’s very common for chlorine to get onto carpets and furniture as people walk from the pool to the bathroom to rinse off.
This is especially true if you have kids around you who might not be cognizant of their actions. The best solution is to install a convenient outdoor shower where household members and guests can clean themselves off before heading inside.
Fountain
If you’re looking for a water structure to spruce up the swimming pool area, a fountain is something to consider.
There are endless designs available, and you can choose one that fits both the pool itself and the landscape. Pool fountains are also a perfect way to round out your backyard oasis, if that’s the look that you’re going for.
Spouting Statue
Many homeowners don’t realize how easily they can replicate the designs of lavish residences, hotels, casinos, etc. You can choose from spouting statue structures such as lions, fish, dolphins, angels, and many more.
You may want to set up the statue as a focal point of the landscape or even install it out front to give your front yard a little something extra.
