Follow these pool prep tips from Tampa’s trusted swimming pool builders, Larsen’s Pool & Spa, and you will enjoy a seamless transition into a perfect poolside summer.
Where to Begin
Preparing your pool for summer use should be a fairly straightforward task. Look at your pool deck to determine if any leaves, branches, or other debris have collected during the winter months. Sweep all of this away from your pool area.
Skim all the leaves, insects, and other debris that have fallen into the pool. Next, add water to the appropriate level. Check the pool’s pH level, shock it with chlorine, be patient, and it won’t be long until you can hop on in! If you have any questions during your pool prep, don’t hesitate to ask our Tampa swimming pool builders for advice.
Step 1: Give Your Tampa Pool a Thorough Cleaning
Algae will gradually grow on the pool’s interior surface and will need to be scrubbed off with a stiff-bristled brush. It also might be necessary to use a rag with chlorine remove all the built-up grime. Don’t forget to clean the skimmer basket also! Your pool’s skimmer should be cleaned on a weekly basis, at a minimum.
Step 2: Keep Chlorine Odor in Check
Pools can become odorous. It is recommended that you shock your pool to reduce any strong odor of chlorine.
Step 3: Change the Pool Filter
Pool filters are meant to keep the pool clean, yet they are not infallible. Pool filters eventually clog due to debris build-up. A clogged pool filter will be ineffective and your pool will become murky.
Step 4: Combat Sunscreen Residue
Suntan lotion or sunblock from swimmers will cause an oily film along the pool’s water to develop. All you have to do is put a tennis ball in the water, it will soak up the oils so your skin and bathing suit will not.
